| 1:00 pm | Strong Bones by Patty Trela Osteoporosis is a disease that affects over 10 Million people over the age of 50. Low bone density and osteoporosis can affect people under the age of 50. It is believe that fewer than one third of the individuals with osteoporosis have been diagnosed and only 14% are receiving treatment. Good bone health is important at all ages. Exercise can improve bone health and it doesn’t take much – you just have to know the right exercises to do. This presentation will talk about 5 ways you can improve your bone health. |

| 1:00 pm | Knee Injury Prevention for Female Athletes by Blake Johnson Female athletes suffer 2-10 times more serious non-contact knee ligament injuries than males participating in the same sport. There are certain risk factors that put female athletes at greater risk. There has been some great research that has come out that has enabled us to test and train female athletes to reduce their risks to equal to the male counterpart. The University of Utah Orthopaedic Center has been testing and training girls for 2 years. This presentation will discuss risk factors, how we test female athletes and how we train them to minimize their risk of knee injury. |
